The Pivot Framework
Pivot was designed with busy schedules in mind.
The 8-week program pairs individual learning with partnered practice, providing flexibility, while maintaining accountability.
Personal Workbook
The workbook is designed to help participants understand what anti-Black racism is and encourages self reflection.
Partnered Learning
Each week participants will meet with their accountability partners to practice being an upstander.
Week 1
Shared Language
Building vocabulary is foundational to everything we do. Recognizing this, the first week of the Pivot Program focuses on introducing anti-racist vocabulary that will lay the groundwork for deeper learning and practice.
Week 2
Identify Intersectionality
Each of our identities is a unique collection of social categories. These categories inform our experiences. In week two, Pivot challenges you to understand how you might leverage your personal intersectionality to combat racism.
Week 3
Unconscious Bias
The third week of the Pivot program inspires participants to identify their own unconscious biases and identify tangible methods to confront those biases moving forward.
Week 4
Systemic Racism
Racism is rooted in our structures. During week four, Pivot participants learn what systemic racism is and identify tools to combat racist structures.
Week 5
Overt & Subtle Racism
Racism isn't always obvious. Week five of the Pivot Program teaches participants how to identify both overt and subtle racism in their daily lives.
Week 6
White Supremacy & Me
During week six, Pivot participants define white supremacy and are challenged to reflect on their contribution to upholding this norm.
Week 7
Anti-Racism & Allyship
Allyship is a buzzword that gets tossed around a lot. Week seven of the Pivot program teaches participants what true allyship means and how it shows up in our communities.
Week 8
Action Plan & Pledge
In the final week of the Pivot program, participants are asked to commit to practicing what they have learned with a plan to implement concrete next steps.
